Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Indiana University with an M.B.A. in marketing and bachelor's degrees in journalism and business. I was editor of my high school and college newspapers (The Kirkwood (Mo.) Call and Indiana Daily Student), then worked at the St. Petersburg Times more than 15 years before coming to Poynter in 2004.
At the Times, I covered police, schools and business. Then I switched to the business side and held a variety of marketing and business analysis positions, including director of the newspaper's in-house advertising agency. I started the Times' company store. Then I returned part-time to the newsroom as a copy editor before coming to Poynter.
