Wichita Eagle
The Wichita Eagle says it violated its own advertising policies when it published a two-page ad Thursday that resembled a news story and offered readers "free" money. Reader Clara Welch spent 2 1/2 hours on the phone trying to get through, thinking she'd get a sheet of money for free. "This particular ad came in extremely late in the day and didn't follow the approval process," says the Eagle's ad veep.
> OOPS!: From today's Culpeper, VA Star-Exponent (the item isn't online): "You'll notice today's paper is significantly larger than a usual Friday because yesterday's paper was proportionately smaller. Inside you will find Thursday's C and D sections, along with your Friday fare. These two sections were inadvertently left out of every paper yesterday. Yes, it's hard to believe. Suffice it to say that it won't happen again and we sincerely apologize for dropping the ball. Humbly, C. Kirk Read, Publisher."
