The Minnesota Newspaper Guild has authorized its St. Paul Pioneer Press members to spend as much as $18,000 to buy newspaper ads, hold a rally, build a website and pay for other communications costs to promote Yucaipa's bid for the paper. Deborah Caulfield Rybak reports the chapter also committed up to $24,000 to let Pioneer Press union members take time off over the next three months for lobbying efforts.
