New York Times
Bennet
James Bennet resigned from the New York Times today after accepting the Atlantic Monthly job on Tuesday. Bennet, 39, who has covered political campaigns and served as Jerusalem bureau chief for the Times, tells Katharine Q. Seelye he accepted the offer because "it's a chance to help, encourage and preserve the practice of serious, long-form journalism and a chance to work with great writers and editors." He adds that because of the "uncertain time" for print journalism, "this kind of undertaking is more important than it's been." (More on Bennet's career.)
