"Many people outside my generation see themselves as owning these people," says journalism ethics instructor Tim McGuire. "That's what that student was telling me: They have an ownership of Alex Rodriguez" and therefore are entitled to know about Rodriguez's private life. McGuire says he'll add an extra week to his ethics class this fall to specifically to deal with the celebrity issue and "the dangers it presents. Britney Spears. Alex Rodriguez. Is this the media that you students want to be a part of?"
