The woman identified as Virginia Gillis is actually Pamala (sometimes Pamela) Brown. Other details in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Easter feature were inaccurate, says an editors' note published Sunday. "Some questions were raised about the woman's account that should have been pursued more aggressively. We take this lapse very seriously, and we are taking steps to reinforce the standards to which we normally adhere. ...In short, this story did not meet our standards for publication. We apologize for this journalistic breakdown."
