Scott Reinardy survey of newspaper journalists found that 25.7% plan to get out of newspapers. Their reasons: 36% mention money or salary; 27%, hours or schedule; and 19%, stress or burnout. Also, a reference to family life is mentioned by 13%. Reinardy
writes: "The results indicate that the 770 journalists in this study have a moderate rate of exhaustion, a high rate of cynicism and a moderate rate of professional efficacy."
