MIT Professor Nicholas Negroponte, who was selected by News Corp. to be part of the five-member special committee that will oversee WSJ's editorial independence, received $2.5 million from Rupert Murdoch's company. "If in fact Nicholas' foundation is receiving money from News Corp., that creates the perception and, quite possibly, the reality of a conflict," says Boston University's Louis Ureneck.
