Santa Barbara News-Press owner Wendy McCaw and her lieutenants ask in a memo: Why is the News-Press portrayed so negatively? They answer their question: "Unfortunately, competitors of the News-Press will print anything and everything they believe will help them take advertising dollars or readership away from the News-Press. And former journalists who left the News-Press in temper tantrums and who cite false reasons for their departure have appealed to their colleagues and friends in the media to write false, biased and untrue stories about these events."
