Jesus Diaz Jr. resigned as Miami Herald publisher about the time of a blow-up over a column by
Carl Hiaasen, who was supported by McClatchy management. (The
column ran September 17.) Diaz was asked to hold off announcing his departure until a replacement was found, reports
