Justin Fox says the soap opera at
Wendy McCaw's Santa Barbara News-Press shows that independent, local ownership isn't necessarily the salvation of the ailing newspaper industry. "You'll get no argument here with the claim that many public corporations are run in a deeply flawed manner," he writes.
