Newspaper Marketing Sites: What Do You Think?
NYT
TheseTimesDemandTheTimes.com
Do newspaper marketing sites like this work?
Earlier I mentioned the new round of Webby award winners. One nominee that intrigued me, under the "Best Copy/Writing" category, is a marketing site from the New York Times: These Times Demand the Times. It didn't win, but it's worth a look.

This site builds off a TV ad that demonstrates the value of NYT content and services. The value proposition: "It's about the journalism. Period. End of story."

Take some time to explore that site and see how it's not just marketing puffery -- it actually draws visitors into NYT content.

We live in an era when, like it or not, even the most established news organizations must continually prove their value to their communities. What do you think of marketing sites like this for news orgs? Are they appropriate? Do they work? Got some other good (or not so good) examples? What would you do differently? Please comment below.
