NFL debuts online access to live games, outside North America only. |
I suppose that if I was a National Football League fanatic living overseas with high-speed Internet access, then the new
NFL Game Pass (offered via Yahoo! Sports), which allows live access to nearly every NFL game, would really have me excited.
But I wonder if fans outside North America will find the price of the streaming video equally exciting: $24.99 per week or $249.99 for the entire 17-week season.
"This is not priced for mass consumer adoption. This is very targeted for an avid NFL fan," said Brian Rolapp, NFL VP of media strategy.
The NFL joins Major League Baseball and the National Basketball Association in providing this service. Last spring, the Outdoor Life Network (soon to be Versus) offered streaming video of the entire Giro de Italia cycling stage race for about $20. If I was a shut-in cycling fan and had nothing to do but sit in front of my computer all day, I might have been interested at that price.
But at the NFL's price?
