Ten years ago this week, the FDA green-lighted Viagra. The timing was perfect: Baby Boomers were reaching senior citizenhood. Since then, Viagra has been used by 35 million men around the world.
The Wall Street Journal points out that Viagra has affected relationships in interesting ways. The story says about half of patients nationwide who have gotten Viagra prescriptions have never gone back for a refill. The reason: Men who believed better sex would fix their relationships learned that their problems were more complicated.
NPR found a "Viagra expert" who said the drug has contributed to a more sexualized society.
And this Orlando, Fla., TV story reports that STDs are rampant in one retirement community. Doctors cite Viagra as a factor in seniors sleeping around.
