11. You can lay subtitles or text bubbles on video -- any video. I will be using this to teach about storytelling.

12. I now use Utterz to file audio reports. You can use your computer's mic or any phone. It's simple and would be a great reporter's tool.

Unexpected Insight From Job Fair Story

Here is a story that brewed from what might have been nothing. Al's Morning Meeting reader Geoff Roth, News Director of KSEE-TV in Fresno, Calif., dropped me this note:

This was one of those vo/sots (voice over/sound on tape, which is TV speak for a short little story) that turned into a great story. We went to shoot a county job fair (that our station was participating in) and found record numbers of people showing up searching for work. The twist was that many people were looking for second jobs to help pay the bills in these hard times. I'm sure these fairs are happening around the country with similar turnouts.
