Dana Eagles
Dana Eagles of the Orlando Sentinel defines common Web terms to create an online journalism glossary.

Mashup
mashup is an online application that combines information from two or more sources. A customized Google Map is the most common type of mashup. It uses map images from Google and can display marker points from other sources. The locations of crimes plotted on a Google map would be a mashup, for example. Maps can be merged with information from other sites, such as photos from Flickr, postings from Craigslist and listings from the Yellow Pages.
Example: chicagocrime.org (the classic mashup)
